My husband and I were re doing our living room and dining room. Under the carpet in those rooms was sub floor, while the rest of the house had 1 & 1/2" red oak from the 1960's. We wanted to match that and started calling around. No one could find it except for National. After talking a lot with John, we ultimately decided to go with 2 & 1/4" red oak instead. You can barely notice the difference and I'm so glad we went with that as it's more readily available, and it's thicker so it feels very solid in comparison when you walk on it. Delivery was smooth and quick. We installed it ourselves and also stained (50/50 mix of Early American & Golden Oak) and applied 2 coats of poly ourselves. It came out SO beautiful and beyond our expectations, I can't stop looking at it! Now we are even thinking of doing our kitchen and replacing the 1 & 1/2" in our hallway in the future. During the process, I called John multiple times with questions. He explained everything thoroughly and gave me some really solid advice. Upon finishing, we had 2 bundles that were unopened. John let us return them for a refund. I don't know of any other place that would do that for you. And if that's all not enough, things get even more impressive. When my husband brought back those 2 bundles, we told John how we had a stain that wouldn't sand out in a door threshold on the old 1 & 1/2" wood. He found 3 very long pieces that he had at the shop that were an exact match and sent my husband home with them! It turned out to be more than what we needed so we were able to fix other areas as well that weren't as bad as the threshold and we would have just left otherwise. I would 100% recommend National Lumber to anyone and everyone! We are thrilled to have found them and give our money to a family owned business. Top notch service, quality and expertise.
